Importance of Proper Sea Defence Walls
McGrath Civils were instructed by Shoreham Development to improve and refurbish an important section of existing sea defence wall, running directly parallel with the water.
The old sea defence wall was in a poor state of repair, directly beneath a new luxury development of waterside apartments so it was imperative to heighten and reinforce the walls defences with precast concrete gurders.
The section of wall now provides resilient coastal defence to Shoreham and its residents.

Keeping sea defence walls in a good state of repair is critically important, even more so when residential apartments are built along the bank-side.
This project was particularly challenging due to having to take an excavator out onto a silt bed due to the tide.
Improving the aesthetics of the wall as well as its safety functionality meant this was a very successful project, which the client and local residents were delighted with.
